The ISCC+ certification obtained by Arkema thanks to the production of UV-LED-EB polymerizable resins will allow the company to offer a new range of organic Sartomer® solutions with low environmental impact.
The specialty materials supplier Arkema has recently achieved the ISCC+ certification of its Villers-Saint-Paul site (France). Thanks to the Mass Balance approach, the company has launched a new range of UV-LED-EB polymerizable resins with bio-attribution, capable of offering up to 40% carbon footprint reduction compared to fossil equivalents.
The French site becomes the first UV-LED-EB curable resin production site in Europe to receive ISCC+ certification, which will allow Arkema to offer a new range of bio-attributed Sartomer® solutions
that strengthen the existing bio-segregated range and containing up to 85% biobased content.
“Mass balance certification across the entire value chain enables Arkema’s customers to decarbonize and accelerates the industry shift towards more sustainable alternatives, with direct drop-in performance solutions,” has commented Laurent Peyronneau, Global President UV/3D Specialties at Arkema.
This achievement represents a step towards the completion of a network of ISCC+ certified factories on a global scale and will allow Arkema to progressively introduce a full range of biological, high solids content, water-based, UV-LED resins and special additives -EB as well as polyester resin powder. Furthermore, this demonstrates Arkema's commitment to supporting customers to pursue their sustainability goals and to propose circular and low environmental impact solutions given the growing demand for high-performance coatings, adhesives and materials.
