The launch of VpCI®-126 HP UV Shrink Film PCR showcases the power of collaboration and innovation in advancing the circular economy. EcoCortec® and Jakob Schober GmbH have demonstrated that sustainability and high-performance protection can go hand in hand, setting a new benchmark for eco-friendly corrosion protection solutions.
EcoCortec® has announced the launch of VpCI®-126 HP UV Shrink Film PCR, an innovative solution designed to protect metals from corrosion while advancing sustainability in the VCI films market. This latest product, an eco-friendly version of Cortec’s best-selling VpCI-126 HP UV Shrink Film, features high post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, optimising recycling and reuse while minimising environmental impact. Customers can now meet sustainability goals without compromising on mechanical strength or corrosion-inhibiting performance.
As a European subsidiary of Cortec Corporation, a global leader in
corrosion inhibitor technology, EcoCortec is at the forefront of sustainable VpCI/VCI packaging solutions. In 2024, the Croatian plant formed a strategic recycling partnership with its eco-conscious German distributor, Jakob Schober GmbH, based in Waldorf, Germany. This collaboration led to the development of the new VpCI-126 HP UV Shrink Film PCR, reinforcing their shared commitment to sustainability.
Under this partnership, plastic scrap from Jakob Schober GmbH is returned to EcoCortec's facility in Beli Manastir (Croatia), where it undergoes rigorous inspection, reprocessing, and laboratory testing. The recycled polymer is then reintegrated into high-quality finished goods, ensuring both
environmental responsibility and superior product performance.
The VpCI-126 HP UV Shrink Film PCR combines high-strength resins with UV stabilisers, Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI) technology, and 30% post-consumer recycled content. This
innovative film protects metal components from rust and corrosion for up to three years, even in harsh environmental conditions. Infused with UV-resistant inhibitors, it prevents degradation while providing transparency for easy inspection of protected parts. Ideal for transit staging and long-term storage, the film safeguards metal components against salt air, humidity, aggressive industrial atmospheres, and dissimilar metal corrosion.
