Elementis has
expanded its portfolio with the launch of RHEOLATE® Biobased NiSAT, introducing two innovative biobased polyurethane thickeners: RHEOLATE® BIO 5010 and RHEOLATE® BIO 5075. Both products are derived from renewable resources, containing over 90% biobased carbon, primarily sourced from waste streams of renewable sugar cane, and are C14-verified.
RHEOLATE® BIO 5010 and RHEOLATE® BIO 5075 are free from VOCs, Tin, APEO, MIT/BIT, and TEA, ensuring compliance with EU Eco-label requirements and promoting a healthier, eco-friendly environment. These thickeners offer good performance with high-medium and low shear contributions, enabling manufacturers to achieve high-quality formulations that support sustainability goals without sacrificing effectiveness.
Both products meet various eco-labelling standards, including the EU Ecolabel, Nordic Swan, and French NF, and are compatible with a wide range of binder chemistries, such as Acrylic, Styrene Acrylic, VAE, VinaVeova, and PUD systems. They are suitable for diverse applications, including interior and exterior coatings, and finishes - ensuring top performance while maintaining environmental responsibility.

- RHEOLATE® BIO 5010: A high shear Newtonian thickener with 92% biobased carbon content. It delivers excellent spatter resistance, high film build, and smooth flow for a flawless finish. It is low odour, VOC-free, and safe for healthier living spaces.
- RHEOLATE® BIO 5075: A medium-low shear thickener with 90% biobased carbon content. It prevents sagging, offers smooth levelling, and ensures a consistent, high-quality finish. Like BIO 5010, it is free from VOCs, APEO, and MIT/BIT, supporting a cleaner environment.
Moreover, both thickeners are formulated with bioethanol from sugarcane molasses waste streams, ensuring that their biobased content does not compete with the food supply. These products mark a significant step toward greener manufacturing practices and environmentally responsible coatings.
