Jotun has donated NOK 1 million to Red Cross/Red Crescent to aid Pakistan, which is facing a humanitarian crisis following severe floods.
Jotun announced the donation of NOK 1 million to aid Red Cross/Red Crescent’s work in Pakistan, which has been recently hit by a devastating flood that affected more than 33 million Pakistanis, killing nearly 1400 people.
The Red Cross Norway reported that more than 1.5 million houses were destroyed, over 700 000 heads of livestock were lost and that several bridges, roads and other infrastructure have been damaged.
People in the affected areas are now flocking to emergency camps. The Red Cross/Red Crescent has established mobile health clinics to help those in need. The donation from Jotun will contribute with health care, medicine and clean water.
“A part of our Corporate Responsibility strategy is to take responsibility in the areas where we operate, and Jotun wants to contribute economically to aid the emergency situation in Pakistan. By choosing Red Cross/Red Crescent as our partner, we know that the money is spent according to our intention”, said Kari-Ellen Liverod, Group Communications Manager of Jotun.
