METEF Postponed to 2022

Date: 11/06/2021

METEF, the exhibition dedicated to aluminium that should have taken place from 10th to 12th June, has been postponed to 2022.

The METEF fair, initially scheduled from 10th to 12th June at Bolognafiere (Bologna, Italy), has been postponed to 9-11 June 2022.

In June, however, two events dedicated to the future of this metal industry will take place: an online round table on “The role of aluminium in the Green Deal decade”, held on 10th June, and the first Italian-Russian Aluminium Forum, from 24th to 25th June.

“The well-known anti-Covid19 measures imposed by the government have led us to the decision to wait one more year to come back with one of Europe’s major shows on aluminium, in order to devote it all the attention it deserves. We owe it to the manifold companies, most of all SME’s, committed to contribute in offering their experience with the aim of enhancing aluminium, a material that played a leading role in a difficult year such as 2020 and that has a vast outlook in terms of growth. Europe’s green transition has placed this metal under the spotlights as a sustainability champion”, explains Metef President Mario Conserva.

The round table, the central event of the Alluminio per le Generazioni Future (AFFG) program, was organised by Assomet’s Centroal with the collaboration of Metef in order to promote – within institutions, non-governmental organisations and media – the various industry proposals related to environmental sustainability, energy saving and recyclability policies. The event is part of "All4climate Italy2021", the official program of the Green Transition Minister including events to promote the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), which Italy is co-chairing.

The first Italian-Russian Aluminium Forum, organised by METEF together with the Russian Aluminium association RAA, will instead involve the participation of the main Italian trade associations related to aluminium, institutions and companies. The aim is to foster collaborations and exchanges of technical knowledge; therefore, a meeting is planned between investors, institutions and experts in order to discuss the future of the material and the new co-operations with Russia.
