The partnership between artist Mariko Mori and Lechler is renewed once again in the beautiful setting of Venice.
The Japanese artist Mariko Mori has once again selected the paints manufactured by Lechler to coat her latest monumental work Peace Crystal, a site-specific installation presented in Venice to invite reflection on shared humanity, its connection with the universe and the responsibility toward the planet. Standing 165 centimetres tall and made of quartz glass, the artwork majestically rises in the garden of Palazzo Corner della Ca’ Granda.
Peace Crystal represents the human body as a container for the eternal soul, traversing life, death and rebirth. The slender shape of the artwork, reminiscent of a crystal, symbolises human evolution, specifically the moment when humans began to stand upright. According to the artist, this crucial event led to the development of intelligence and spirituality.
The lighting of Peace Crystal is a fundamental element: an external solar collector gathers light and channels it through quartz glass optical fibres, transmitting real light within the piece. In this way, Peace Crystal gets an aura of life and vitality, representing the energy that animates the universe and human existence.
The artwork from Mariko Mori is a message of peace, unity and hope for a better future. It will be on display for free until Monday 7th October 2024, with mandatory reservations required via the Bloomberg Connects app or at the ticket office of Palazzo Diedo.
