PPG expanded its Brazilian manufacturing capacity by 40%, in order to meet the growing demand for more sustainable powder coatings.
The global coatings manufacturer PPG has recently announced the completion of the expansion project regarding its powder coatings plant in Sumaré (Brazil). As a matter of fact, the $2.7 million investment will increase the local production capacity by 40%, allowing the company to meet the growing demand for powder coatings in the region.
The plant is equipped with modern and highly automated systems that allow better process control and quality and less setup time for color matching and production. In addition, the company is also planning to invest in connectivity devices and process synchronisation technologies. PPG will then be able to quickly provide sustainable powder coatings to local manufacturers of appliances, furniture, agricultural machinery and transportation systems.
“Powder coatings are one of the fastest-growing coating technologies in the world and PPG is committed to meeting the growing global demand by investing in R&D, facility expansions and acquisitions to develop our production capacity and expand our global presence. A key factor driving the rapid adoption of powder coatings is the growing interest in more sustainable solutions,” has stated Marizeth Carvalho, the global business director of PPG Powder Coatings.
The expansion is part of a largest global investment that upgraded five powder coatings manufacturing facilities in the United States and Latin America.
