J. Wagner GmbH has proudly announced that its more than 500 employees of the Markdorf (Germany) site have jointly raised more than €57,000 during the annual Christmas fund-raising event, which the company donated to the TAFEL charities organisation in the Lake Constance region and to three other projects.

TAFEL is a charitable organisation that aims to salvage groceries and help people in need by collecting surplus foodstuffs that can no longer be sold. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ongoing war in Ukraine and the rising inflation, the requests for support are increasing while, at the same time, fewer and fewer donations are reaching the organisation.

“That’s what prompted our fund-raising event this year, because we all agreed that we wanted to provide assistance again in the region. This is a result that is a clear demonstration of the solidarity of Wagner with those in need in the region,” has stated Dennis Brandmaier, the HR specialist in charge of the fund-raising event.

During the fund-raising event of the company, employees dropped cash into the on-site charity tins, donated residual leave and flex-time and directly transferred money to the TAFEL Germany aid projects. In addition, the Board of Wagner matched the amount raised.

Finally, the Josef Wagner charitable foundation from Friedrichshafen, that on its 50th anniversary had already donated 50,000 euros, is currently financially supporting the Markdorfer Wintertaler projects, in order to provide shopping vouchers for elderly people.

“This is now the second time we have run this Christmas fundraiser. Together, the whole team at J. Wagner GmbH has once again done something amazing! With the funds raised and the contribution from the company, we can help the TAFELs inside and outside the region and therefore provide direct help to a lot of people! It means a great deal to us to support our region and charitable aims,” has added Jaqueline Schiele, the personnel manager of Wagner.
