Layer thickness is a central quality characteristic for quality assurance of coating processes. Nevertheless, a perfectly applied coating can still show defects caused by filmic or particulate contaminations from previous production or cleaning processes. Testing and monitoring the parts cleanliness prior to the coating process in addition to the process-related layer thickness measurement ensures an optimal result of the coating in order to meet increasing customer requirements.
