These certifications enable Arkema to reduce the carbon footprint of its mass balance products by up to 100%, driving the development of sustainable coatings for rapidly growing markets such as green energy and e-mobility.
Arkema has taken a significant step in reducing the carbon footprint of its Coating Solutions portfolio by adopting a comprehensive global approach. In 2024, Arkema achieved multiple ISCC PLUS Mass Balance certifications across the US, Europe, and Asia, encompassing major coating technologies.
“Replacing virgin fossil feedstocks with biobased or recycled sources is essential to circular economy. The mass balance approach allows to accelerate this transition by integrating renewable and recycled feedstocks into supply chains while keeping the same level of performance. More ISCC+ manufacturing sites certifications are expected in 2025 to further reduce product carbon footprint to support our customers and partners across the value chain to meet their sustainable development objectives,” has stated Richard JENKINS - SVP Coating Solutions, Member of Executive Committee.
Moreover, over the past year, nine Arkema sites have been certified, covering a comprehensive range of bio-attributed solutions that span the entire value chain, from upstream acrylic monomers to downstream specialty resins and additives, supporting high-performance technologies such as high solids, waterborne, UV/LED/EB and powder coatings.
