This innovation is driven by the growing demand for sustainably produced pigments within the paint and coatings industry.

LANXESS is introducing a highly sustainable variant of its Bayferrox iron oxide yellow pigments. The new pigments, offered under the Scopeblue label, boast a significantly reduced carbon footprint thanks to the use of more eco-efficient raw materials.

Sustainable Pigments with a Reduced Carbon Footprint

As part of its ongoing sustainability strategy, LANXESS is gradually expanding its Scopeblue product lines. These products are made with a higher proportion of sustainable raw materials, resulting in a carbon footprint (PCF) that is approximately 35% lower compared to conventional Bayferrox pigments. This achievement is verified through a life cycle analysis certified by TÜV Rheinland. The lower-emission raw materials used are also certified according to ISCC Plus, using the mass balance method.

Ideal for High-Quality Applications

The new Scopeblue pigments, including Bayferrox 3910, 3910 LV, and 3920, are specially formulated for high-end applications, such as pigment pastes and highly pigmented facade paints. These pigments offer excellent potential for sustainable product development while maintaining the same chemical composition, color, and performance properties as traditional Bayferrox pigments.

Sustainability at the Core of LANXESS’ Business Model

LANXESS is committed to integrating sustainability into its business practices. By systematically evaluating its products from economic, ecological, and social perspectives, the company is helping to make its customers' value chains more sustainable. Through innovative processes and sustainable product offerings like Scopeblue, LANXESS continues to lead the way in eco-conscious manufacturing.
