Mitsui Chemicals has increased the production Capacity of XDI to meet the growing demand for hardeners used in non-yellowing coatings.
Mitsui Chemicals has recently announced it has increased production capacity of meta-xylylene diisocyanate (XDI) at its Omuta-based facility (Japan), in order to meet the growing demand for hardeners used in non-yellowing coatings - expanding domestic production capacity by 20%.
XDI is a special isocyanate
used for high refractive index ophthalmic lenses, capable of offering high durability, as well as being a valid coating material thanks to its resistance to yellowing and rapid curing properties. Demand for XDI is expected to grow given quality of life needs and will move away from mixed materials, especially in coating materials used in the solar industry.
