The acquisition of Arsonsisi’s powder coatings business will allow PPG to produce more sustainable metallic bonding powder coatings.
PPG has announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire the powder coatings business line of Arsonsisi. The financial terms of the transaction, that it is expected to be concluded in the first quarter of 2022 after customary closing conditions, have not been disclosed.
Based in Milan (Italy), Arsonsisi is a manufacturer and supplier of specialty powder coatings for the architectural and industrial sectors and its powder coatings business line had almost $15 million revenues in 2021. The agreement will allow PPG to acquire the highly automated, small- and large-batch capable powder manufacturing plant of Arsonsisi in Verbania (Italy) and expand its portfolio to include metallic bonding across Europe, Middle East and Africa, which is one of the fastest growing markets for powder coatings often used in specialty finishes for automotive, appliance and general industrial applications.
In addition, the powder coatings developed by Arsonsisi are a highly sustainable and offer enhanced durability, transfer efficiency and the ability to be reclaimed or reused during application, so they align with PPG’s goal to have 40% of its sales by 2025 from sustainably advantaged products.
