PPG will partner with C3 to support and inspire students in STEM education.
The coating manufacturer PPG has recently announced that it has signed a partnership agreement for the next two years with Centrum JongerenCommunicatie Chemie (C3), a non-profit Dutch association that aims to introduce young students to chemistry and life sciences. The company has granted a $163,000 (almost 145,000 €) fund support Dutch students and inspire them towards school and career choices involving science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
“Together with C3, we want to build the next generation of diverse and innovative STEM leaders. As a science and technology company, we know how important a skilled STEM workforce is for creating stronger, more sustainable communities. That's why we are supporting C3’s online student platform exactwatjezoekt.nl and ensuring that students can get extra practice in science subjects,” stated Justus Tichelman, the market director of PPG for the Benelux region.
The students will be introduced to STEM topics and career opportunities trough both an online platform and in-classroom lectures. By investing in educational opportunities, PPG aims to help grow and develop tomorrow’s skilled workforce and innovators. In addition to this, the company will also be the main sponsor of the annual multi-day conference for chemistry teachers organised by C3.
“All education institutions need students who have made a good study choice. Young people have to choose a direction early on, when their perception of the world is miles away from their future studies let alone profession. Thanks to this partnership, C3 has the means to realize much-needed education support across the board, specifically for chemistry, life sciences and process technology. It is essential that girls and young people from disadvantaged communities are also addressed,” also added Lutgarde Buydens from the board chair of C3.
