MAFAC developed this new machine with spray-flood cleaning and double-bath system specifically to meet the high requirements in precision parts cleaning.
The MAFAC MALTA has a multitude of new technological features which provide for efficient, high-quality cleaning of components of intricate design. Thanks to its new kinematic process technology, the compact machine is fit for flexible use in particle-free degreasing, setting new standards in terms of cleaning quality, process reliability and economic efficiency.
In the course of the general downsizing trend in the industry, components are designed in increasingly small sizes. This also makes them more sensitive, resulting in the need for greater precision in machining and gentler yet more efficient cleaning technologies. In reaction to this trend, MAFAC designed a new machine generation with the MAFAC MALTA, tailored to the high-end cleaning of small and very small components. The heart of the new development is the enhancement of kinematic process technology and its extension to ultrasonic technology.
Six-sided spray and drying system for efficient cleaning
The new MAFAC MALTA is equipped with a rotating, six-sided spray and drying system. Arranged closer to the centre of rotation, the spray nozzles ensure that all sides of the components have contact with the cleaning medium while reducing the spray shadow to a minimum. Owing to the special nozzle arrangement combined with an optimized basket receptacle system, the machine achieves an improved, more homogeneous cleaning result in a shorter time. The user benefits from higher process reliability and greater flexibility in arranging the components. The completely new treatment chamber of the machine also contributes to the improved cleaning result. It has a smooth interior without edges that is almost free of areas where the remaining dirt particles may deposit. Thus, a re-contamination of the cleaned components is almost fully excluded, significantly increasing the process reliability. The drying system of the MAFAC MALTA is likewise very effective: Its rotating warm air impulse and hot air blowing system ensure a higher degree of dryness in complex components.
Rotatable, movable ultrasound system
The enhanced performance of the MAFAC MALTA in precision parts cleaning is attributable in particular to the newly developed ultrasound system. Like the spray nozzle system, the ultrasound oscillators can rotate and are thus able to target critical parts geometries directly. This principle reduces shadow zones, improves the access to hidden interior contours, and cleans intricate structures effectively but gently. The process is carried out at a reduced pressure and ensures that premium results are achieved reliably and with a shorter cleaning time.
State-of-the-art machine design and intuitive operating software for added operator friendliness
The machine as well as the operating software have been designed with a view to make them easy to use and to maintain. Thus, the MAFAC MALTA is characterised by its small footprint and service-friendly layout: All machine components from the treatment chamber over the machine room doors to the software panel are ergonomically arranged. The machine units are easy to reach for short repair and servicing times. The operating software has a simple user interface which guides the operator intuitively through the menu. Operators do not need much training as the machine is easy to program. The MAFAC MALTA requires only very few parameters to adjust the cleaning process accurately to the respective contour. To ensure reproducibility, it offers a range of monitoring options and logs all relevant machine processes in a diagnosis module. Faults are quickly detected and remedied.
Sustainability: Optimised energy consumption and longer bath life
In the development of the MAFAC MALTA, sustainability played a key role. Thus, the machine incorporates many features that optimise the economic efficiency and environmental compatibility of its components and processes. The insulation of the entire machine and all sides of the fluid tanks, the re-design of the air and water flows to reduce energy consumption, the integration of heat exchangers or the new standards in particle and bypass filtration are just some examples for the resource-saving concept of the machine. The process chamber which is free of edges for reduced particle deposition, as well as additional filter variants protect the cleaned component and the system from re-contamination; the extended lifetime of the baths further reduces the consumption of energy and water.
