Over 1,000 participants and an above-average number of pipeline operators attended the digital edition of the Pipeline Technology Conference, which was held from 15 to 18 March 2021.
Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) represents a unique meeting place for the sector for the exchange of operator knowledge across national borders and continents. This year the conference saw the participation of 861 delegates from 64 different countries: in addition to the traditional strong participation of Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, this year's registration included many representatives from the United States and Canada.
Key points of the 16th edition of Pipeline Technology Conference were:
- Dissemination of knowledge plenary sessions, panel discussions and technical presentations with Q&A sessions which saw the participation of almost 100 speakers in 28 sessions in up to five parallel tracks. These training sessions will be transferred to the "PTC Pipeline Open Knowledge Base" for free use.
- Networking between conference participants: an AI-powered matchmaking algorithm and a variety of search filters made it easier than ever to find other participants with matching interests. Participants booked appointments for more than 900 individual video chats which always took local time zones into account.
- Technology showcase, where companies competitively presented their products and services to talk to virtual visitors about solutions to their specific problems. 33 sponsors and virtual exhibitors were represented.
The prestigious PTC advisory committee chaired by Heinz Watzka and Dirk Strack ensured the high quality of the conference program.
On PTC Pipeline Open Knowledge Base, in addition to the abstracts and documents of the last 15 years of PTC, many recordings of the presentations of this digital edition will also be uploaded. The database is freely accessible via the ptc website.
The 17th Pipeline Technology Conference will adopt many elements of the online event and will be held as a hybrid event in Berlin from 7-10 March 2022. The call for papers will open in May.
