Sherwin-Williams’ presence at the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo underscores its leadership in corrosion protection technologies and dedication to fostering innovation in materials performance.
The global protective coatings supplier
Sherwin-Williams
Protective & Marine has been awarded the prestigious 2025 MP Corrosion Innovation of the Year Award by Materials Performance (MP) magazine for its Heat-Flex® CUI-mitigation coatings.
The recognition was presented at the 2025 Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Annual Conference + Expo in Nashville (Tennessee, United States). This annual award highlights breakthrough technologies that significantly enhance corrosion control and asset protection worldwide.
“CUI remains one of the most serious threats to productivity and safety in asset-intensive industries. By delivering robust, long-term corrosion protection that lowers maintenance requirements, our Heat-Flex CUI-mitigation coatings help owners and operators save significant costs while enhancing reliability. We’re proud that Materials Performance has recognized the value and impact of these solutions,” has stated Neil Wilds, Global Product Director of CUI and Testing, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine.
Out of 60 submissions, the Heat-Flex® CUI-mitigation coatings – including the flagship Heat-Flex® ACE
(Advanced CUI Epoxy), an ultra-high-solids, solvent-free epoxy novolac – were selected for their ability to mitigate corrosion under insulation (CUI), extending service life and reducing operational downtime. The Heat-Flex range also includes Heat-Flex® 750, a high-solids alkylated amide epoxy with micaceous iron oxide for improved mechanical durability, Heat-Flex® 1200 Plus, designed for extreme environments up to 650°C (1200°F), as well as Heat-Flex® 650, an epoxy phenolic suitable for temperatures up to 205°C (401°F), offering enhanced crack resistance and UV stability.
Sherwin-Williams will continue its active participation in the expo, showcasing its next-generation Global Core Portfolio, which includes Zinc Clad® 2500, Macropoxy® 2600, Macropoxy® 4600, and Acrolon® 7700 – all complying with rigorous global standards. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the innovative Heat-Flex® Advanced Energy Barrier (AEB) and the award-winning Heat-Flex CUI-mitigation coatings. In addition, the company will highlight cutting-edge infrastructure coatings such as Sher-Bar™ TEC and
Sherplate™ 600.
