A conference during SIFER

The 13th international exhibition of railway technology SIFER will be focused on innovation, sustainability and competitivity.

The organisers of SIFER 2023 – the 13th international exhibition dedicated to the railway technology that will take place from 28th to 30th March 2023 at the Grand Palais in Lille (France) – have recently introduced the topics of the conference programme and the related events.

The main topics that this edition of the trade fair will cover are innovation, sustainability and competitivity. For over 20 years, SIFER has acted as an emulator for the stakeholders of the railway sector by offering a unique meeting place, allowing participants to foster exchanges and business opportunities on an international scale. It will then once again act as a platform to debate on current events and the future of the sector by proposing a valuable programme of conferences organised by the partners of the show and several sessions from the exhibitors.

The programme of SIFER 2023

SNCF Réseau will hold the conference “Rail Open Lab, an open association to accelerate innovation in the rail sector” while i-Trans, a founding member of the ERCI network of European clusters, will organise the first phase of a competition aiming at highlighting and rewarding the skills and know-how of innovative companies offering solutions to increase the competitiveness of the railway sector. It will later reward the “Best Large Company”, the “Best SME” and the “Favourite Innovation”.

In addition, BTP Rail will host two roundtables: “Zero emissions: solutions to achieve this goal” and “Hydrogen for railway work machines”. Business France, on the other hand, will present two seminars: “The decarbonisation of British rail transport” and “Rail transport in Italy: a sustainable mobility issue at the heart of the recovery”.

Finally, there will also be the “Competitiveness of the European Railway Industry: Growing Challenges and Answers” and the “Skills and youth – what are the challenges for the European railway sector?” roundtables managed by UNIFE, as well as the conference “How to reorganise the French industrial sector in a changing and increasingly competitive environment?” by Ville.

Alongside the conference agenda, however, SIFER will host several other associated events to promote knowledge exchange and networking opportunities, such as keynotes and technical presentations held by Altametris, Clearsy, Instituts Carnot, Tenneco, URETEK, Vogelsang and Wabtec.

The Innovation Hub of SIFER 2023

SIFER is also introducing new areas such as the Innovation Hub, featuring start-ups offering innovative and creative solutions for the challenges of tomorrow. Another new feature will be offered by the Federation of Railway Industries (FIF) with a stand that will bring together a dozen of its members, as well as an arena where conferences will be addressing subjects ranging from European rail recovery plans and major projects to decarbonisation, innovation and attractiveness.
