allnex has announced the launch of the CRYLCOAT® OCEAN product line, an innovative range of powder coating resins developed using recycled plastics.
The growing plastic waste crisis remains a major global challenge, with millions of tons of plastic entering the natural environment, including oceans, despite ongoing recycling efforts. Conventional waste management strategies have struggled to effectively address the scale of this issue.
Recycled plastic waste streams now serve as essential building blocks for powder coating polyesters, helping to mitigate pollution caused by single-use plastics. The integration of post-consumer rPET into coating resins aligns with green technology demands and supports the circular economy by providing a long-term solution for plastic waste management.
Since the launch of the first commercial CRYLCOAT® OCEAN resin five years ago, allnex has continued to expand the use of recycled PET in resin formulations. Designed for industrial indoor and outdoor applications, these resins contribute to a carbon footprint reduction of up to 20%.
CRYLCOAT® OCEAN resins maintain the same workability as traditional powder coating resins, ensuring seamless application. They are compatible with various crosslinking chemistries, including triglycidyl-isocyanurate (TGIC), β-hydroxy-alkylamide (HAA), and hybrid systems. The products contain up to 50% rPET and offer curing temperatures as low as 160°C. Multiple grades are available, ranging from indoor to standard durable and super durable formulations, with region-specific solutions supplied from various global locations.
