The new KRÜSS Absorber Pen allows to rapidly remove drops of the standard measuring liquid diiodomethane.
KRÜSS, a company specialising in interfacial chemistry and supplier of measuring instruments for surface and interfacial tension, has developed the new Absorber Pen for diiodomethane. It allows to rapidly remove drops that have been dosed for contact angle measurements from the sample, simplifying the safe handling of the liquid.
Thanks to the absorbent material contained in the pen, it can hold at least 1000 μL and can be transported and stored in a safe and odourless way throughout its entire life cycle.
Diiodomethane is a standard liquid used for contact angle measurements, to determine the surface free energy. Its is employed, for example, in the quality assurance of activated materials prior to coating. As diiodomethane is used as a nonpolar liquid mixed with polar water, it forms high, easily measurable contact angles and results particularly suitable to insert in most materials.
This chemical is easy to handle, but operators must dispose of it correctly. It is then safer and easier to use the Absorber pen than, for example, paper towels or cotton swabs.
