PPG AMERLOCK® 600 is a multipurpose option for shop and field applications that features a one-year recoat window.
PPG has recently expanded the AMERLOCK® products range of epoxy protective coatings with PPG AMERLOCK 600, a multipurpose coating that can be applied both in the shop and in the field on a wide range of steel substrates such as carbon steel, stainless steel and galvanised surfaces, as well as marginally prepared surfaces.
The new high-build, polyamide-cured coating developed by PPG ensures maximum versatility, as it combines a broad application thickness range with fast dry times and a one-year recoat window that makes it adaptable to the applicators’ schedule: production plants that ship to job sites where the products might sit idle prior to installation can then perform touch-ups on-site with more confidence in the long-term performance of the coating.
“The PPG Amerlock coatings family is known for its excellent corrosion protection in tough environments. PPG Amerlock 600 coating builds on this high performance by also providing maximum flexibility in application surfaces and recoat windows,” stated Juanjo Ardid, the vice-president of the protective and marine coatings business line for PPG U.S. and Canada.
PPG Amerlock 600 is dry to the touch within one and a half hour of application and can be overcoated after four hours in typical shop operating environments for high throughput and minimal downtime during maintenance. So, it allows to reduce coating inventory and complexity.
The coating PPG Amerlock 600 has low VOC emissions (240g/L), meets the ISO 12944 standard for protective paint systems and offers protection against corrosion in up to C5 environments.
