Walther Trowal will showcase the AM post-process machine model A2 and the Rotamat R 60.
Walther Trowal has announced that it will participate at Formnext, one of the most important international trade fairs dedicated to additive manufacturing and industrial 3-D printing that will take place from 15th to 18th November 2022 in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). During the exhibition, Walther Trowal will present two new surface treatment technologies: the AM post-process machine model A2 and the Rotamat R 60.
Model A2 refines the surface of 3D printed components by deburring, smoothing or polishing, eliminating the typical roughness caused by the so-called “staircasing” effect – markings from removed support structures and residual powder sintered onto the component surface – in one single operation.
The company developed the A2 machine specifically for treating complex metal components. The constant “rubbing” of the grinding/polishing media against the work pieces is not only gentle, but it also produces a homogeneous surface finish. Moreover, the media also reaches difficult-to reach internal areas and undercuts.
The new post process system runs fully automatically and produces excellent and consistent surface finishes. In addition, because of their compact design and small footprint, the A2 machines can be easily integrated into interlinked manufacturing operations.
The company will also showcase Rotamat R 60, a new technology specifically developed to quickly and evenly coat the surfaces of 3-D printed components with several lacquer materials and obtaining repeatable results. Rotamat R 60 has a capacity from 2 to 15 litters per batch.
“We want to ensure that our customers are well taken care of. The lacquer producers are currently working very hard to develop new coating systems for the base materials used in 3D printed components. By closely working with them, we make sure that our customers achieve excellent coating results on their 3D printed components with the new lacquer materials in their existing Rotamat machines,” has declared Frank Siegel, the sales manager for the coating technology at Walther Trowal.
