Teknos joins the Nordic Circular Design Programme as the sole representative of the paints and coatings industry, leading initiatives to promote circular economy principles and drive education across the sector.
Teknos, a paints and coatings supplier, has joined the Nordic Circular Design Programme (NCDP) as the sole representative of the paints and coatings industry. Through this initiative, Teknos is championing efforts to educate and engage the sector in adopting circular economy principles.
The NCDP, co-funded by Nordic Innovation under the Nordic Council of Ministers, is an 8-month programme designed to help businesses transition to circular business models and prepare for the forthcoming Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). Bringing together 31 forward-thinking companies across diverse industries, the programme aims to accelerate the shift towards a sustainable and circular economy.
“Circularity is essential to building a sustainable future. By joining this programme, we can collaborate with other industries, share knowledge, and develop partnerships that will accelerate the shift toward circular solutions in the paints and coatings sector,” has stated Thomas Palm, Chief Portfolio Development Officer at Teknos.
Teknos is taking bold steps to integrate circular solutions at the product level. This includes incorporating biobased and recycled raw materials into its formulations and designing products for easier recovery and reuse. The company is also working to enhance packaging sustainability, further demonstrating its commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
Teknos recognises the challenges of implementing circular practices, such as maintaining high performance standards with secondary materials and balancing cost-effectiveness with sustainability. By leveraging the tools, workshops, and collaborative opportunities provided by the NCDP, Teknos is addressing these obstacles while advancing its sustainability objectives.
