allnex is set to eliminate PFAS from its additives used in paints and coatings by the end of 2024.
Allnex is removing PFAS from its Additives products by the end of 2024. This initiative, which began over 18 months ago, has involved working closely with global customers to develop replacement and reformulation strategies.
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that have been in use since the 1950s. These substances are resistant to oil, water and heat, and are persistent in the environment, not breaking down easily. PFAS are found in many consumer and industrial products, including paints and cleaning products.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank our technical, commercial, project management teams and especially our customers for making this goal a reality. While we expect continued regulatory pressure on the use of PFAS containing materials it was important to us to be proactive and to do our part to remove them as soon as possible from the environment,” has stated Tim Kittler, Global Marketing, Growth Platforms.
