Date: 02/03/2022

BASF is providing the German Red Cross with €1 million in emergency humanitarian aid for Ukraine.

BASF donated €1 million to the German Red Cross (GRC) to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine. After the attack on Ukraine ordered by the Russian government, the population is experiencing an escalation of violence and hundreds of thousands of civilians are trying to leave their homeland.

GRC is supporting its sister organization, the Ukrainian Red Cross (URC), to help and provide relief to the population. Specifically, GRC plans to provide basic necessities to people in Ukraine and people arriving in neighboring countries: food, clothes, hygiene kits, but also communication devices such as charging devices for mobile phones. The German Red Cross will also provide psychosocial support.

“There is a war going on in Ukraine. The suffering for the civilian population in the country is immense,” said Martin Brudermüller, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF. “We want to help these people and therefore quickly decided to provide this emergency aid.”

In addition, many employees of the company around the world have expressed their willingness to donate. BASF will offer the opportunity to donate in the coming days. In addition to emergency humanitarian aid, BASF will double the amount raised through employee donations.
