At the end of June, global chemical company BASF has closed the divestment of its global pigments business.
On June 30th 2021, BASF has concluded the divestment of its global pigments business, which had been purchased by the fine chemical company DIC after the fulfilment of clearance conditions imposed by the relevant authorities. The acquisition price on a cash and debt-free basis was €1.15 billion.
BASF’ about 2,600 employees were already hired by DIC on August 29th 2019, as previously announced. The Japanese company, listed at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, has thus expanded its 20,000-employee base.
Headquartered in Tokyo, DIC was founded in 1908 and is present in more than 60 countries, with a revenue of around 700 billion yen (€5.8 billion) generated from its three businesses: Packaging & Graphic, Color & Display – which includes a portfolio of pigments – and Functional Products.
