BCF Awards recognised excellence through the UK coatings industry and celebrated important achievements.
After a challenging 18 months, the British Coatings Federation (BCF) celebrated the UK coating sector
by recognising the excellence of the industry players through its 2021 Awards. The winners were announced on 14th October 2021 at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel.
Almost 300 delegates attended the ceremony and witnessed the celebration of the 12 winners, divided in 11 categories.
“After a really challenging time for our industry, it was great to come together face to face and celebrate the achievements of our member companies. It is also exciting to see so much young talent in our sector, demonstrated particularly in our Apprentice of the Year and Young Leader of the Year categories. Many congratulations to all those who were shortlisted, but especially to the winners,” stated BFC Chief Executive Tom Bowtell.
The event started with the Sustainable Innovation Award won by PPG Automotive Refinish for its MOONWALK™. As a matter of fact, sustainability played an important role through the evening, with Crown Paints and Teal & Mackrill honoured with the Coatings Care Progress Award and the Coatings Care Overall Best Performer respectively. Moreover, the “First Thing - Sanitiser” campaign by HMG Paints allowed the company to win the Corporate Social Responsibility Award.
The Customer Service Award this year saw two winners: the Dulux Decorator Centre from AkzoNobel Decorative Paints and Sun Chemical. For Marketing Campaign of the Year, it was the Leyland Trade Smart launch that took home the award for PPG. Diversity and Inclusion was instead awarded to UL, while the Award for Excellence in Training was won by U-Pol.
Individuals within the industry were also awarded: George O’Reilly from IPL, Apprentice of the Year; Natalie Hood from Jotun Paints Europe, Young Leader of the Year; and finally Linda Ferrante from Fujichem Sonneborn, Student of the Year.
