Excellent results for the Call for Papers of the International Conference, which will take place in Bergamo (Italy), next May 27th and 28th, during IVS 2015 – Industrial Valves Summit, the new international event dedicated to the entire supply chain of industrial valves.

More than 70 research papers have been submitted, within the deadline of 19th January 2015. All abstracts were evaluated by IVS's independent Advisory Board, which comprises experienced professionals from leading End Users, Engineering Companies, Service providers, Associations and Consultants. The final conference program – which includes the selected 48 research papers - is now available and downloadable from the IVS website, where delegates may also register for the conference.

The abstracts were presented by leading companies, representing the entire supply chain of industrial valves and flow control sectors. A significant number of scientific contributions also came from research institutions, academic world and standardization bodies, both Italian and International.

It is also significant to point out that over 60% of the papers will be presented by international speakers. This is a further confirmation that - although it is the first edition - Industrial Valve Summit is becoming a recognized major event in the valve technologies sector.

After a preliminary screening phase, the Advisory Board met on 30th January to select the final papers which have been included in the program and define the different sessions, appointing also the relevant chairmen.

The final program includes 12 sessions, divided into the four main themes of the Congress. The event will feature 13 research papers under the first theme "Advances in valve design, safety, materials and coatings
"; 13 research papers under the second theme "Actuation, control and communication"; 15 research papers under "Valve sealing performance"; 7 research papers under the fourth theme "Standards and qualifications".

The chairmen who will lead the conference sessions are: Brian A. Lade (Syncrude Canada) and Ron Merrick (Fluor Corporation) for the first theme; Umberto Navarra (Technip) and Alberto Leni (Saipem) for the second theme; David Edwin-Scott (ESA - European Sealing Association) and Jean-Michel Rivereau (Total) for the third theme; Pascal Vinzio (CEN - European Committee for Standardization) and Alexandre Popa (ISO - International Organization for Standardization) for the fourth theme.

The fifth theme "Business and Management" will instead be the subject of two round tables dedicated to two issues of particular importance for the industry: Merger and acquisitions in the valve industry on May 27th and Global sourcing in the changing energy industry on May 28th.

Maurizio Brancaleoni, president of IVS 2015 Advisory Board, gave his first comment on the selected abstracts: "The scientific papers which have been selected, thanks to the standing high profile of their presenters, will offer stimulating and constructive contributions to all conference participants, with a vast know-how sharing. We will all benefit by the quality and level of innovation included in all conference papers."

The selected research papers will provide an updated overview on the entire supply chain of industrial valves: "All papers - continues Brancaleoni - will offer interesting topics which range from materials to sealing systems, coatings/corrosion protection techniques to new technological and product developments, regulating valves to control and supervision systems, actuators to main applicable international standards." The IVS 2015 Conference will allow delegates to improve their knowledge and learn about the latest state-of-the art, combined with high quality and reliable products and dedicated services, with advantages in terms of safety of people, environmental protection and high returns on project investments.

Among the most innovative contributions from the technological point of view, besides new valve design and related technologies, the evolution and the use of special materials in specific applications, also by the adoption of new sensors and automation techniques. Delegates will also be able to learn about the latest wireless communications and the most innovative security technologies, used for instance in offshore installations.
