Jotun has donated to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to help with the recent storm that struck Libya.
The international paints and coatings manufacturer Jotun has recently donated almost $ 100,000 in order to deal with the recent storm Daniel that affected north-east Libya. The company is the supporting the efforts of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The disaster led to overwhelming destruction, leaving thousands of people missing and several fragile infrastructures. The Libyan Red Crescent volunteers were the first on the ground by assisting in evacuations and administering first aid. The donation will help to strengthen the capacities of the Libyan Red Crescent in emergency healthcare, emergency shelter, psychosocial support, water and sanitation services. The Red Crescent teams will also support vulnerable groups, including women, children, elderly and people with disabilities.
“A part of our Corporate Responsibility strategy is to take responsibility in the areas where we operate and Jotun wants to contribute economically to aid the emergency in Libya. By choosing Red Cross/Red Crescent as our partner, we know that the money is spent according to our intention," has stated Kari-Ellen Liverod, Group Communications Manager at Jotun.
