With this first 2019 issue, ICT also inaugurates its Sustainability section. This is a particularly sensitive topic in a sector that makes an extensive use of solvent-based chemicals and that has been at the centre of an environmental controversy for many years, in which solvents were demonised in favour of water-based detergents, but without considering the cleaning process as a whole.
Considering individual processes or the emissions generated by individual machines is not enough: the problem of sustainability is placed within a broader framework. That is why more and more companies are implementing a holistic approach to sustainability, analysing all the aspects that can be improved in an industrial process.
Another interesting approach with respect to sustainability, described in the following pages, is the choice to create a circular economy by taking advantage of the cleaning phase to make the most of an expensive raw material.
