At the next edition of METALCON, PPG will also highlight its latest coatings and pigments for the architectural market.
The international paints and coatings manufacturer PPG has announced that it will be the primary sponsor of “The Architects Experience” at METALCON, the trade fair and conference dedicated to the metal construction industry which takes place from October 18th to 20th
in Las Vegas (U.S.A.).
PPG will showcase its high-performance line of coil, extrusion and field-applied metal coatings for residential, commercial and monumental architectural applications, including the PPG DURANAR® PVDF and PPG DURASTAR® SMP coatings, the PPG DURAFORM® BP polyester coil coatings, the PPG CORAFLON® PLATINUM FEVE powder coating and the PPG Coraflon ADS field-applied coatings.
“As a pioneer in metal coatings with solutions in every major coating technology, PPG was an ideal fit to sponsor the ‘show within a show’ to discuss how protective coatings not only help to create striking exteriors, but overcome architectural, structural and environmental challenges,” has commented Hendekea Azene, General Manager of PPG Industrial Coating for the America region.
The company will also present the advanced infrared (IR) reflective pigments, which help to cool buildings by using less energy as well as the pearlescent pigments, that color shift with changing angles and light for dynamic exterior designs. These technologies are used in the PPG Duranar ULTRA-COOL®, PPG Durastar ULTRA-COOL® and PPG DURANAR VARI-COOL® coating formulations. In addition, the representatives of the company will be available for discussing its latest products and colour innovations as well as participating in two educational sessions:
- ‘Designing for Las Vegas: A Full House of Finishes for Allegiant Stadium to Enhance, Protect & Cool’ on 18th
October at 08:30 a.m with Gary Edgar (PPG architectural specifications manager for Industrial Coatings) and Christopher Sotiropulos (Vice President of stadium operations for Las Vegas Raiders) – The session will explore the partnership between the Raiders and PPG to protect the 10-level domed facility with paints, coatings and specialty materials.
- ‘Improve Sustainability of Pre-Painted Metal with Radiation Cured Coatings’ on 18th October at 11:15 a.m with Craig Smith (PPG global platform director for coil and extrusion coatings), Michael Stucky (PPG customer sustainability business partner for Global Industrial Coatings and Aerospace) and Karl Swanson (President for PCT Ebeam and Integration LLC) moderated by Olivier Magnin (PPG coil coatings global business manager for Industrial Coatings) – the panel will provide an overview of radiation-curable coatings and the importance of this technology in the pre-painted metal industry.
"Ultra-violet and electron beam (EB)-cured coatings are widely used for substrates, including vinyl, composites and wood. Investments in research and development, including work done at PPG, is making radiation curing the next generation offering for a broader range of applications and industries. As a global leader in radiation cured technologies, PPG is quickly expanding its EB portfolio for coil steel and aluminum coatings, which is expected to transform the industry and raise the bar for sustainable, energy-efficient coating solutions” has stated Oliver Magnin Global Business Director of Coil Coatings at PPG.
“With PPG’s 55-year legacy in architectural coatings, we appreciate the opportunity to share best practices and new innovative technologies that will elevate the performance and aesthetics of architectural metal. Las Vegas provides the perfect setting because of our work on the construction of Allegiant Stadium, a definite showstopper for the city,” has concluded Azene.
