The newly introduced coatings from Sherwin-Williams provide universal quality and performance standards, ensuring compatibility, colour matching, and durability across multiregional projects.

The international paints and coating manufacturer Sherwin-Williams,with its Protective & Marine division, has expanded its Global Core product line, delivering superior coatings consistency and specification efficiency for customers worldwide.

The latest additions to the Global Core lineup include an inorganic zinc primer, an epoxy primer, an epoxy intermediate coat, and a urethane topcoat. Designed for multi-layer protective systems, these coatings cater to industries such as commercial infrastructure, bridge and highway, energy, manufacturing and processing, water and wastewater, and more. The products are easy to apply and meet the needs of local, regional, and global customers who prioritise consistency and reliability.

Each of the four new coatings meets the rigorous requirements of ISO 12944:2018 and NORSOK M501 standards, ensuring they perform effectively in even the most demanding environmental conditions, including ISO 12944’s severe C5 and higher categories. By adhering to these global standards, the coatings provide asset owners, engineers, specifiers, and applicators with seamless performance characteristics, standard colours, and uniform application properties—no matter where they are used or sold.

“Consistency enables uniformity—two key attributes customers seek in protective coating systems when working on global projects. For example, a project may be designed in one country, fabricated and coated in another, and then shipped elsewhere for assembly. Our Global Core products ensure that at every stage, the same coatings with identical formulations and performance characteristics are available, streamlining the specification and application process,” has stated Sean Grady, Senior Global Product Director at Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine.

With enhanced productivity and application ease, the new coatings feature fast drying times, enabling quick recoat applications and asset handling. Their simple application processes—including easy sprayability, standard mixing ratios, and tolerance to different conditions—reduce errors and optimize inventory for applicators.

New Additions to the Global Core Product Line

  • Zinc Clad® 2500 – Inorganic Zinc Primer: designed for faster priming and handling, Zinc Clad 2500 provides superior corrosion resistance, meeting ISO 12944 CX requirements. It offers excellent transfer efficiency and a rapid dry-to-handle time of just 45 minutes, ensuring quicker project turnaround.
  • Macropoxy® 4600 – Corrosion Inhibitive Epoxy Primer: high-solids, cost-effective epoxy zinc phosphate coating, Macropoxy 4600 is approved for ISO 12944 service environments up to C5. Its fast-curing formulation enables dry-to-handle times of just three hours, even in low temperatures.
  • Macropoxy® 2600 – Epoxy Intermediate Coat: essential for building film thickness in protective coatings, Macropoxy 2600 offers a high-solids composition and rapid recoat capability. Its formulation, available with micaceous iron oxide flakes, enhances barrier protection while simplifying inventory management with a shared catalyst with Macropoxy 4600.
  • Acrolon® 7700 – Urethane Topcoat: providing long-lasting aesthetics and corrosion resistance, Acrolon 7700 maintains gloss and color even in aggressive environments. Its fast-drying formula allows for accelerated production and easy application, ensuring a durable finish.
