Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine has launched FIRETEX® FX2007, expanding its award-winning range of PFP coatings.
The Protective & Marine Division of Sherwin-Williams
has recently announced that it has expanded the company’s FIRETEX® range of intumescent passive fire protection coatings with FIRETEX FX2007, a solvent-based paint that provides up to 60 minutes of fire resistance on structural steel.
FX2007 can be applied by airless spray, is suitable for both in-shop and on-site projects and is approved with several primer types. It can then be used for new structures and across maintenance projects, so it is ideal for multi-use buildings, commercial real estate, office blocks and stadia.
In addition, its fast drying-times and film thickness
allow applicators to efficiently and quickly protect steel sections in as little as one coat. However, it is also suitable for use in external environments when applied with approved topcoats.
“Our industry-leading FIRETEX family of coatings allows steel fabricators and applicators to coat structures to the highest standards, while creating a sense of safety for buildings in which thousands of people move about at any one time,” has declared Carl Burrell, the global product director – Fire at Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine. “Our improved technology makes FIRETEX FX2007 more economical and efficient than other products which offer 30- or 60-minute passive protection. Its lower thickness requirements result in reduced number of coats and therefore fewer labour hours, helping applicators save time and money compared to alternative products.”
The FIRETEX intumescent coating range of has already been awarded for its ultra-fast drying capabilities. As a matter of fact, it has been used to protect the Y-Towers in Amsterdam and a sustainable office building in London.
