Arkema has signed agreements with American energy suppliers to manage its activities from renewable sources.
The raw materials supplier Arkema
has recently signed an energy agreement for its American sites based in Calvert city, Beaumont, Chatham and west Chester as well as for all the Bostik sites.
Arkema expects to obtain approximately 40% of the energy needed to run its American operations from renewable sources after signing agreements with the energy providers Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Entergy and 3degrees by the end of 2024. The company's ultimate goal is to reduce scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 48.5%
by 2030.
"These achievements are major steps on Arkema’s path towards net zero. We will continue to develop similar partnerships to help the group reach its climate plan targets,” has stated Tony O’Donovan, regional leader of Arkema’s north America region.
TVA and Entergy expect to supply approximately 35 GWh/year and 60 GWh/year of solar electricity to the cities of Calvert and Beaumont. 3degrees will provide green renewable electricity certificates and certificates to decarbonise approximately 57 GWh/year for the Chatham, West Chester and Bostik sites.
