Mipelon™ improves the sliding properties and the abrasion and chemical resistance of paints and coatings.
Dreyplas GmbH is a distributor of high-performance additives, polymers, adhesive raw materials that has recently announced its participation at the next edition of the European Coatings Show trade fair, taking place from 25th to 27th March 2025 in Nuremberg (Germany).
At the event, the company will showcase the fine powder Mipelon™ (developed by Mitsui Chemicals), whose spherical particles consist of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE). The additive significantly improves the sliding properties and the abrasion and chemical resistance of paints and coatings, offering also a high-performance and environmentally friendly alternative to PTFE.
Suitable for electrostatic powder coatings, water and solvent-based liquid paints and E-Coats, Mipelon is also characterised by its high chemical resistance to acids, alkalis and organic chemicals. Furthermore, it absorbs virtually no water or moisture and does not tend to swell even at high temperatures, retaining its shape and function.
Compared to PTFE, it has a lower coefficient of sliding friction and better abrasion resistance at the same dosage, which makes it economical to use. Most grades are also suitable for food contact applications in accordance with EU and US legislation.
Dreyplas GmbH will be in booth 4A-527.
