The new sustainability report showcases the continued prioritisation of Sun Chemical to circular economy and corporate social responsibility.
The international specialty chemicals manufacturer Sun Chemical
has recently published the 14th edition of its sustainability report, highlighting the continued prioritisation to sustainability leadership and its commitment towards corporate social responsibility.
The document emphasises the progress of the company in its goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 – with 2013 as a baseline – and becoming net CO2
neutral by 2050. As a matter of fact, Sun Chemical approaches its operations, products, services and collaborations using the ‘five Rs’ framework, i.e. reuse, reduce, renew, recycle and redesign, to guide its sustainable initiatives in an effort to achieve a circular economy.
More specifically, the latest edition of the sustainability report shows that Sun Chemical is minimising greenhouse gas emissions from its use of electricity, steam and fossil fuels during manufacturing operations through the incorporation of energy efficiency projects at its production facilities, reductions in water consumption and significant decreases in landfill waste.
Beyond several awards and certifications for sustainable production, the data also demonstrate notable improvements for the environmental impact of Sun Chemical. Finally, the sustainability report illustrates the importance of cross-industry partnerships to design and deliver sustainable solutions that contribute to a circular economy.
“As the spotlight of our industry on sustainability grows brighter, brand owners and converters need supplier partners who can help them adhere to regulations and meet their goals. We are proud to announce that Sun Chemical is already at 86% of the way to meeting its own 2030 target to cut CO2 emissions in half,” has declared Michael Simoni, the global director for sustainability of Sun Chemical. “Our ‘five Rs’ framework has focused our strategic efforts on reducing waste and improving efficiency, recyclability and compostability while maintaining the highest standards of performance to best serve our customers.”
