Shropshire Aircraft Painting's partnership with AkzoNobel reaffirms its dedication to delivering top-tier quality and craftsmanship, ensuring aircraft owners receive an exceptional finish every time.

The international paints and coatings supplier AkzoNobel has successfully provided its aerospace coatings to Shropshire Aircraft Painting, elevating the quality of the painted aircraft.

Shropshire Aircraft Painting has over 40 years of experience in aircraft painting and caters primarily to private owners of general aviation (GA) aircraft. The company's portfolio includes everything from modern Piper Cherokees to vintage trainers such as the AT-6 Harvard.

“We recently repainted our first aircraft (a Piper P-28 Cherokee) using the AkzoNobel system and the difference in application and finish is phenomenal. Not only is the finish excellent, but we also only have to use a lower volume of paint to achieve the same coverage as the hiding characteristics of the AkzoNobel paint is so good. This not only saves us money but is also better for the environment,” has stated Keith Bebbington, Shropshire Aircraft Painting.

Shropshire Aircraft Painting has recently adopted AkzoNobel's Alumigrip 4200, a three-component, low-VOC polyurethane topcoat, known for its premium gloss and outstanding distinctness of image (DOI). When paired with Alumigrip 4450 clearcoat, the finish offers exceptional durability, a lasting wet-look appearance, as well as resistance to harsh weather, hydraulic fluids, oils, and other liquids. The Alumigrip 4200 is even buffable, ensuring a polished and professional result for each project.

“In this particular application we’ve opted for a metallic effect paint which is a noticeable improvement on the paints we have used before and the feedback from our client has been excellent. With a full pipeline of customers, impressed by the work that we do and the performance of AkzoNobel’s paints, I’m also looking to take on more painters to keep up with demand,” has added Keith Bebbington.

Moreover, in 2022 Shropshire Aircraft Painting also partnered with local aviation enthusiast Alex Cartwright to bring a custom color scheme to life on Alex’s scratch-built Pitts S1-11B high-performance aircraft. The project used AkzoNobel’s Aerodur Barrier Primer 37045, a chromate-free three-component epoxy primer, followed by Alumigrip 4250 accent color basecoat and finished with Alumigrip 4450 clearcoat for unmatched gloss and durability.
