Arkema's Sant Celoni facility achieves ISCC+ Certification for its sustainable powder coating resins, thus advancing environmental innovation.

Arkema has recently obtained the ISCC+ certification for its powder coating resins facility based in Sant Celoni (Spain), which manufactures its range of mass balance solutions with up to 40% bio-attributed polyester powder resins while also achieving a reduction of  the carbon footprint of up to 25%.

The Spanish facility houses a polyester resin production line and a state-of-the-art R&D laboratory dedicated to improving the sustainability and performances of raw materials for powder coatings. Indeed, Arkema belivese that the sector represents a strategic growth area due to the sustainability of these applications: no solvents, almost no waste and low energy consumption. As a matter fact, it has recently announced a new production process that integrates up to 40% post-consumer recycled content from end-of-life packaging products into powder coating resins.

“The global powder coatings market continues to show strong growth driven by megatrends across end user markets and the inherent sustainability of the technology. Arkema is committed to supporting our customers worldwide with the materials they need to further decarbonize their offers and ensure they can meet their sustainability goals,” has stated Neil Tariq, Global Business Director Coating Resins at Arkema.

Moreover, the site also produces advanced polyester-based liquid resins that can now achieve up to 25% bio-attribute content and up to 20% PCF reduction to support the decarbonisation of key industrial applications such as coatings for reels and packaging.
