The Spanish subsidiary of Dürr is specialised in paint shops for the automotive, aerospace and railroad sectors.
Dürr Systems Spain S.A. – the Spanish subsidiary of the German Dürr Group
– has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Established in 1974, it was initially dedicated to designing and installing a pretreatment and electrocoating line for the Fiesta car model at the Ford plant in Valencia.
Since then, the company has emerged as a leader in innovative technology and engineering, undertaking numerous systems expansions, modernisations and turnkey projects. Today, it has 120 employees specialised in planning and building paint shops for customers in the automotive, aerospace, and railroad sectors in Spain and Portugal.
The history of Dürr Systems Spain S.A.
Based in San Sebastián, it started out as VIZDÜRR-Vizcaino because Spain only joined the European Economic Community in 1986 and so foreign businesses had to rely on local partners for their business activities. Dürr officially took over the shares of VIZDÜRR in 1991. In the following years, the Group acquired the German company Behr and its national companies, including the headquarters in Barcelona.
With this strategic incorporation, Dürr Systems Spain S.A. combined its pretreatment service and galvanisation systems with paint shops. Later on, the Spanish subsidiary has further expanded its offerings to include the aerospace sector with greenfield and brownfield paint shops.
