Hempel will support the Ukrainian population, the Red Cross and other NGOs.
The coating manufacturer Hempel has announced that it is taking several actions to support Ukraine during the humanitarian crisis that has recently involved the country.
The company is focusing its efforts on supporting the employees with Ukrainian relatives by offering financial support to cover the costs of evacuation and temporary housing, as well as assistance in finding appropriate accommodation and psychological support through a network of crisis psychologists.
Hempel is also encouraging its Danish colleagues to support the Red Cross with donations and has announced that it will double the donated amount. In addition, through the Hempel Foundation, the business has granted a €1 million fund for emergency relief
to help and support the Ukrainian population and those who have already fled the country. The fund will be equally disbursed between seven NGOs (UNICEF, Save the Children, Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontières, SOS Børnebyerne, Human Rights Watch and UNHCR) to immediately deliver essential humanitarian aid.
From a business perspective, Hempel has already suspended all deliveries in and out of Russia until further notice. The company is evaluating current orders on a case-by-case basis whether it is obliged to deliver the order and whether regulators permit to do so.
“We are keeping a watchful eye on the situation as things develop. We always adhere to international rules and sanctions and we expect additional sanctions to be implemented shortly, with which we will act in accordance”, commented Hempel.
