The Homecoming, Balance and Pulse colours of the year 2025 from Mankiewicz

The three new colours of the year – Homecoming, Balance and Pulse – reflect the challenges of our time.

The German paints and coatings manufacturer Mankiewicz has recently announced that it has selected Homecoming, Balance and Pulse as the colours for the year 2025, since they reflect the significant changes and the challenging times that the world is currently facing. The annual colour selection is a flirtation of the zeitgeist, since the chosen shades are always topical and expected to inspire and contribute to a lively public discussion about current trends.

The feeling of coming back home is currently experiencing a fresh appreciation in many regions of the world, due to a return to the familiar in a personal or cultural context. The green Homecoming hue – that has already left its mark in neoclassicism, Art Nouveau and the ‘70s – is then capturing the charisma of the known, so that a newly designed product can also convey a feeling of warmth and identity. In addition, the fine sparkle in the Homecoming-painted surface is reminiscent of the shimmer of velvet or a hand-glazed tile.

Pulse is a fine matt effect with a slightly dark red nuance resembling a mysterious and dramatic quality. The strong flop effect creates clear contrasts between light and dark, telling stories of distant worlds. However, when light falls on the shade, it appears to glow a delicate golden red from within, creating the impression that something warm and almost poetic is taking place beneath the surface. Its duality makes the shade exciting, because its surreal mixture fits well with the present: despite the world undergoing dramatic changes, hopes for better times spring eternal.

Finally, the Balance colour has a fine structure in a warm and light wool shade, functioning as a visually and haptically pleasant and extremely fine surface. At the same time, it also interacts very well with striking materials and tends to mediate between simple and natural materials.
