Merck Announced Leadership Changes at Group Level

The Germany-based company Merck has announced important changes in the senior leadership team.

The Germany-based science and technology company Merck has recently announced some important senior leadership changes at Group level. Becoming effective on 1st December 2021, these changes will further expand Merck’s role in the market and mobilise for accelerated growth in the coming years.

Alessandro de Luca, who joined Merck in 2011 as Global Head of Supply Chain for the Healthcare business and is currently an ad-interim Group Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Healthcare CIO, will take over his role on a permanent basis, reporting to Marcus Kuhnert, Member of the Executive Board and Chief Financial Officer of the company. Marc Horn, current Head of Controlling Life Science and with more than 20 years of experience in several senior commercial and finance roles across the U.S., Germany, Singapore and China, will assume the role of Chief Transformation Officer Life Science, reporting to Matthias Heinzel, Member of the Executive Board and CEO Life Science of Merck. Both de Luca and Horn will be located at Merck’s headquarter Darmstad (Germany).

Anke Schenkel, current Head of Group Controlling & Risk Management will follow Marc Horn as Head of Controlling Life Science, reporting to Marcus Kuhnert. Alexander Lind, who started in 2010 as Global Graduate Trainee and is currently Senior Director Group Controlling and Head of Business Planning & Analysis, will succeed Anke Schenkel as Head of Group Controlling & Risk Management.
