Micro Powders has introduced the new texture additive for powder coatings MicroTex® 950, the newest addition to its PTFE replacement portfolio.

Micro Powders, Inc. has recently announced the newest addition to its polytetrafluoroethylene-PTFE replacement portfolio, the new PFAS-free texture additive for powder coatings MicroTex® 950: the new safe and compliant solution provides uniform fine texturing with the ability to achieve single digit gloss reduction similar to PTFE texturisers.

With regulatory restrictions on the horizon for per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAs) substances, formulators currently using PTFE based additives are scrambling to find suitable replacements. Micro Powders had already announced in November 2024 that it will exit the PTFE market by the end of the current year, while however continuing to distribute cutting-edge additives that align with its corporate values and conform to global environmental, health and safety regulations.

Over the past several years, Micro Powders has been developing a portfolio of PTFE-free replacement products based on a unique nanocomposite technology that perform as well or even better than PTFE-containing counterparts, oftentimes at a lower cost. The additives and raw materials manufactured by Micro Powders will be showcased during the European Coatings Show (stand 5|5-440) – that will take place from 25th to 27th March 2025 in Nuremberg (Germany).
