PPG has updated its Vietnamese plant, in order to manufacture water-based functional and decorative coatings for consumer electronics.

The international paints and coatings manufacturer PPG has recently announced that it has completed the expansion project regarding its industrial coatings plant in Yen Phong (Bắc Ninh province, Vietnam). The updated facility will include a new production line dedicated to the PPG Aquacron™ waterborne functional and decorative coatings for consumer electronics, as well as state-of-the-art testing equipment and automated spray booths.

“As a trusted supplier to global leading consumer electronics OEMs, PPG delivers next-generation solutions that not only enhance the durability, design and functionality of their products, but also helps these industry partners reduce their carbon footprints with coatings made with little to no solvents,” has declared Irene Tasi, the senior vice-president of the Industrial Coatings division of PPG.

Now equipped with six production lines, the plant will allow the company reduce turnaround times, accelerate coatings development and expand the access to technical and customer support. In addition to PPG Aquacron coatings, the facility also produces PPG Spectracron™ liquid coatings for transportation applications, PPG Duranar™ coil and extrusion coatings for architectural and building products and Raycron™ UV-curable coatings for electronic materials.

“This investment represents another important step forward in our commitment to create innovative and sustainable products that protect and enhance our communities around the world,” has added Le Dong Lam, the general manager of PPG Southeast Asia. “Our dedication to sustainably-advantaged products is evident through the growing portfolio of waterborne, powder and energy curable coatings. As a company, we aim to achieve half of the sales from sustainably advantaged products by 2030.”

Moreover, the customers in the region can now also leverage the PPG Secure Launch Excellence programme, which is designed to integrate new coating technologies and colours into existing production lines. The process ensures that new solutions will work on the first application, meeting the exact specifications.
