Winter is here - and so is the end of Game of Thrones. The final episode of the series aired Sunday, May 19, after eight years during which everyone waited with bated breath to know who sits on the Iron Throne. To keep the memory of the HBO show alive, PPG has developed special paints inspired by some of the main characters.
Here are the colours and the characters that inspired them:
Jon Snow: This black-infused green colour called Night Watch is inspired by the one and only (former) Lord Commander Jon Snow, or should we say (spoiler alert
) Aegon Targaryen? This powerful colour embodies all that Jon Snow is: powerful, mature, and a true stand-out leader. Night Watch was even named PPG's colour of the year.
Arya Stark: A girl may have no name, but she sure does have a paint colour. This purple colour with a royal blue undertone called
Silver Swordplay is the perfect neutral, and can shift to match almost any decor style—as easily as Arya can put on someone else's face.
Bran Stark: Perhaps no other character has taken such a dramatic turn as Bran, the second youngest of the Stark clan. In Season 1, episode 1, Bran was a little boy who loved to climb and seemed to fear nothing. Now he's the three-eyed raven who knows all and sees all, so PPG's Black Magic might be part of Bran's mystical new persona.
Daenarys Targaryen:Fittingly called Purple Dragon, Daenerys Targaryen's paint is fit for a Khaleesi and her fire-breathing babies. Purple is the colour of royalty, after all.
Cersei Lannister: The Lannisters have a strong affinity for red wine—especially Cersei, who probably hasn't been seen without a cup of the stuff in hand in a few seasons. This Red, Red Wine colour is a dark, raspberry-chocolatey-purple hue that's reminiscent of the finest Arbor gold in King's Landing.
Tyrion Lannister: The Imp's mouth is both his best and worst attribute, because it's always getting him into trouble and, of course, getting him out of it. Now, Tyrion who was once the Hand of his evil nephew, King Joffrey, and now the hand of Daenerys Targaryen, PPG's King's Court, a deep grey-green, is as much a title as it is a paint colour.
The Night King: This cool, blue Ice Castles colour signals that winter really is here—and maybe for good. The Night King's mysterious chill is matched with this arctic blue tone, and it'll make you feel cool on even the most scorching summer days.
Brienne of Tarth: The deep, chalkboard grey that PPG calls Knight's Armor is perfect for this powerful and courageous woman who fights alongside men and who has proven to be one of the show's most loyal and true soldiers. This colour is worthy of any new knight.
Melisandre: The Red Woman, a priestess for the Lord of Light, is the kind of character who gives redheads a bad name. But in the end, she sent the Dothraki into battle swords aflame, and later set the trenches on fire to hold the dead at bay, even if it was only temporary. She brought Jon Snow back from the dead and helped unite him with Daenerys and, in the end, brought her own death. PPG's Burnt Red is her perfect colour.
