The Protective & Marine division of Sherwin-Williams has received four 2021 JPCL Prestige Awards, ranking first in the “People”, “Innovation” and “Project” categories. The annual JPCL Prestige Awards programme honour influential individuals, impactful products and the most noteworthy projects in the protective and marine coatings industry.

“The Sherwin-Williams team had an impressive showing in this year’s JPCL Prestige Awards program with key wins in categories that help to shape the continued success and growth of the protective coatings industry. From expert industry leaders to innovative products that solve persistent market challenges to projects that rely on our skilled professionals and advanced coatings solutions, Sherwin-Williams already holds high prestige in the market. But it’s very nice to be recognized for it, as well,” stated Bryan Draga, the vice-president of marketing for Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine.

Overall, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine division received four awards:

  • Carl Burrell (Global Product Director – Fire, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine) received the “Top People” award for the leadership in the fire protection market, the commitment to educating the industry about best fireproofing practices, the contribution to critical industry standards and the mentorship inside and outside the industry.
  • The long-lasting polyurethane flooring solutions from the FasTop™ Multi Systems were awarded in the “Top Innovation” section thanks to the performance, durability and ease of application. Holding up against repeated wear, they can be easily cleaned and disinfected and are resistant to chemicals, abrasions, slips, heat, steam and moisture.
  • The application of a durable protective coating on The Providence – a new 500-ton lift capacity floating dry dock for Biblia Marine Towing and Transportation – received the “Top Project” award. The edge-retentive, ultra-high solids epoxy amine coating system is expected to triple Biblia’s maintenance intervals.
  • The premium, two-component fluoropolymer urethane coating Fluorokem® HS 100 earned a distinction in the “Top Product in the Coating for Steel”, as it extends maintenance and repainting life cycles while providing exceptional colour and gloss retention also in severe environmental exposures and extreme weather conditions.
