Arkema’s new range of bio-based waterborne dispersions, formulated for paints and coatings applications, features up to 30% bio-based content and provides a 40% reduction in carbon footprint compared to conventional acrylic resins.

Arkema has unveiled its ENCOR® range of bio-based acrylic binders tailored for paints and coatings applications. These new binders are formulated with up to 30% bio-based content, significantly reducing the reliance on fossil-derived materials.

Moreover, they offer up to a 40% reduction in carbon footprint compared to traditional resins. This breakthrough supports the growing demand within the paints and coatings industry for more sustainable solutions, aligning with global efforts to reduce environmental impact while maintaining product performance.

“Arkema’s approach encompasses the entire lifecycle”: From safer product, such as formaldehyde and APEO-free (4) formulations that comply with Oeko-Tex® Eco Passport standards (6) and/or are suitable for food contact (5), to the use of renewable and lower carbon feedstocks. We also focus on end-of-life management, with work to enhance the biodegradability of our future grades, extending durability, as well as improving color solidity and washing resistance,” has stated Patricia Beurdeley, Global Market Manager, Coating Solutions.
