Biesterfeld expands its portfolio for the aviation and automotive industries with Solvay’s composite materials.
The German-based company Biesterfeld Spezialchemie and Solvay have recently announced a distribution agreement for advanced composite materials starting immediately. Biesterfeld will then provide the European and North African aviation and automotive industry with Solvay’s prepregs, adhesives and primers.
The two companies have already had a successful partnership for high-performance polymers for the plastics industry, high-performance rubber materials for the rubber industry and organic fluorinated intermediates for the pharmaceutical and agrochemical sector.
The new portfolio now includes the FM® structural adhesive films; the DAPCO® series of rapid cure and room temperature cure sealants, potting compounds and paste adhesives; the AeroPaste® high-performance paste adhesives for cost-efficient rapid assembly; the chromated and non-chromate corrosion-inhibiting BR® bonding primers that ensure processing flexibility, easier manufacturing processes and improved adhesion while inhibiting degradation to provide long-term durability; and the Surface Master® surfacing films, that reduce surface defects and offer superior handling properties that make manufacturing easier.

The deal includes also the distribution of preimpregnated fibres, autoclave and out-of-autoclave (OOA) systems and Solvay's PRISM® resin infusion product portfolio, as well as the brands CYCOM®, Solvalite®, MTM®, LTM®, VTM® and HTM®.
