DIC has obtained the International Sustainability & Carbon - ISCC PLUS certification for the production of resins for paints and coatings.
The specialty chemicals manufacturer DIC Corporation has recently announced that in August 2024 it had acquired the International Sustainability & Carbon - ISCC PLUS certification scheme for the paints and coatings resins
manufactured by its Malaysian subsidiary DIC Epoxy Sdn. Bhd.
The ISCC PLUS certification is a voluntary scheme that certifies the proper management of recycled and biomass-derived raw materials across the supply chain, including in production processes. It then facilitates the use of raw materials to which the mass balance approach has been applied.
The company has identified the contribution to the realisation of carbon neutrality, creation of a circular economy and building a sustainable supply chain as issues of material importance that it must address. The use of mass balance bio-allocated raw materials is expected to reduce the carbon footprint of the DIC Group by 19.4% compared with conventional products that use fossil-derived raw materials.
