Evonik’s POLYVEST eCO will allow to reduce the use of fossil raw materials for adhesives and sealants by up to 99.9%.
The Coating & Adhesive Resins business line of Evonik
has launched POLYVEST® eCO, a new range of sustainable liquid polybutadienes
specifically developed to meet the needs of the increasing demand for environmentally-friendly products.
“The demand for efficient and environmentally friendly products is constantly increasing. With the development of POLYVEST® eCO, we are supporting the transition to a circular and bio economy,” has declared Dr. Jürgen Herwig, who is in charge of the POLYVEST brand.
The new product range can be used as a raw material for adhesives and sealants in the automotive, electronics, and construction industries, as well as a rubber additive in tire production. Manufactured with sustainably produced butadiene, POLYVEST eCO can reduce the use of fossil raw materials by up to 99.9%, while maintaining the same physiochemical properties.
“The biggest advantage for our customers is that it is not necessary to adapt their existing formulations. There is almost no easier way for our customers to reduce CO2 emissions,” has added Dr. Sara Liébana Viñas, Head of Technical Marketing for Reactive Sealants at Evonik.
Evonik has already been awarded with the EcoVadis Platinum Rating for its sustainability efforts. In addition, the Marl production facility of the company, in which POLYVEST eCO will be manufactured, received the ISCC PLUS mass-balance certifications at the beginning of 2022.
